It's not really a leveling system. It's a horizontal expansion system called Masteries. Masteries are broken into expansions. The core game has it's own masteries. Path of Fire has it's own. Living world Seasons are part of specific expansions, so Path of Fire and Season 4 of the living world are the same masteries. Same with HoT and Season 3.
So you only need to go on a Heart Of Thorns or Path of Fire run and be done in an hour or two for one of the specs.
