I currently play Elementalist as I was told that's a good dps class but I'm unsure how to play it, do rotations or how to build the character at all. The first two also have their own forums that definitely can give some extra help. There should be enough variety of players there to help any new person. Beyaond these a PvX guild is definitely a good resource of help, Lastly the wiki and dulfy.net are also good resources for self help.

The best thing you can do is just take baby-steps and take things one step at a time. The Character Adventure Guide is phenomenal for leveling these days. Overall, I'd suggest leveling with a power build rather than a damage over time (condition) build. Anything beyond 80 is called Mastery level.
You can take advantage of this to easily go through and salvage things by using certain key terms. When using the search function on the inventory, type: "req" (short for required) to get your salvage kit and all salvageable items. "sal" (short for salvage) to get the salvage items. "rare" to search for just rares.
